MLCDC Hires Juan J. Montoya as Advance Fund Director

Juan J. Montoya has been hired as the new director of the Advance Fund-CDFI (Community Development Financial Institution) for the Midlands Latino Community Development Corporation (MLCDC) (www.midlandslatinocdc.org). Montoya has served on MLCDC’s Loan Review Committee since 2017, and he has extensive experience in business planning, individual financial planning, training, and recruitment.

Montoya has prior experience as program coordinator at Creighton University where he helped with the design and development of community programs that focuses on minority populations. He has also worked as a bilingual business consultant at the Nebraska Business Development Center, where he provided financial analysis and business consultations to entrepreneurial individuals pursing a business in Omaha. Montoya has a master’s degree in business from the University of Nebraska–Omaha, and he is pursuing a Master of Science in Public Health at Creighton University.

As director, Montoya will be responsible for the leadership, management, and growth of MLCDC’s nascent CDFI. He will manage a diverse and growing small business loan profile and will be tasked with building on CDFI’s first years of lending success to expand into other products and lines of business that are relevant to the greater Omaha and Lincoln communities in the following three years.

MLCDC’s small business loan fund, Advance Fund, provides business capital to primarily Latino, immigrant, and low-income women-owned local businesses with an emphasis on job creation and place-keeping. The Advance Fund is expected to be a potential financing vehicle for Community Real Estate and consumer lending in the future.
