Long-Time ENCAP Employee Ruth Matlock Presented with Spirit of Advocacy Award

On November 8, the North Omaha Community Care Council (NOCCC) held its 7th Annual Impact Luncheon. Eastern Nebraska Community Action Partnership (ENCAP; www.encapnebraska.org) staff, board, and friends were present to celebrate long-time staff member Ruth Matlock as she received the NOCCC’s Spirit of Advocacy Award. This award recognizes and honors someone who has demonstrated exceptional public service and dedication to the health and wellness of the North Omaha Community. Ms. Ruth (as so many know her) has been a cornerstone of ENCAP for 40 years, and she has dedicated her life to serving as a positive and loving guide to thousands of individuals, seniors, youth, and families that have come through ENCAP’s doors and people throughout the North Omaha Community.

“We are grateful for Ms. Ruth’s exceptional service, and we are inspired by her dedication and commitment to others,” said Aaron Bowen, ENCAP executive director. “Ruth cares deeply about North Omaha and the families who call it home. She wants the best for them and will do all it takes to get them the assistance they need to move forward, and to show them she cares. I cannot think of a person more deserving of this award.”

ENCAP is a nonprofit community based organization that has been providing social and human services to people facing poverty in Douglas and Sarpy Counties since 1965. For more information about programs and services go to www.encapnebraska.org or follow the Facebook page (@encapnebraska).
