Heartland Family Service (www.HeartlandFamilyService.org) is excited to announce that longtime public servant Barry DeJong has been named Vice President of Child and Family Programs.

Early in his career, DeJong worked for a juvenile detention center and the Department of Corrections in Lincoln. He joined the Omaha Police Department in 1984, retiring as a lieutenant in the Detective Bureau in 2007. He then went to work for Health and Human Services as the Eastern Service Area Administrator in the Child and Family Division.

In his last position, DeJong was general manager for a private security company with responsibility for operations in four states. He also has served on many community boards throughout the years, including the Papillion-La Vista school board and Project Harmony board of directors.
DeJong is joined on the leadership team by recently promoted Vice President of Counseling and Prevention Mary O’Neill and Vice President of Housing and Financial Stability Joanie Poore.

Other members of the leadership team are Clinical Director Kerry Wiles, Chief Financial Officer Kristine Hull, Chief Development Officer Donna Dostal and Chief Strategy Officer Greg Ryan and Diversity Officer Ashlei Spivey.
