Omaha Public Library (OPL) is pleased to welcome Freddie Gray to the Board of Trustees. OPL is governed by a nine-member board. Board members are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by city council to serve a three year term. Gray was appointed on December 6, 2011.

Freddie Gray has been recognized as a champion for young people. In 2008, she was appointed to the Board of Education for Omaha Public Schools and now serves as president of the school board. She advocates and serves for public education at several levels. Nationally, she contributes through the Council of Urban Boards of Education Racial Isolation Taskforce. Locally, Gray serves with the Learning Community Coordinating Council and Nebraska Association of School Boards. She works to advance equitable educational opportunities for all students by integrating community and school assets. Gray continues to serve the Omaha community by actively participating on boards and advisory councils for organizations including the First Responders Critical Support Foundation, Nebraska Arts Council and the Center for Human Diversity.
