Farris Engineering recently elected Tom Svoboda to president and chief executive officer. In his new role, Svoboda will focus on the overall operations and performance of the firm. He will maintain the firm’s business development strategies and execution including identifying new business opportunities and establishing and managing client relationships. He has more than 25 years of experience working in the built environment with various entities around the world.

Svoboda obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. Svoboda served in the United States Air Force for 20 years where he worked in various public works positions. He is a registered professional engineer, certified energy manager and a member of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), the Society of Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
