The 19th annual Omaha Hospitality Hall of Fame Annual Dinner and Induction Ceremony was held Sunday, Oct. 21 to celebrate achievements of the best in the Omaha area food and restaurant industry and to raise scholarship funds for culinary and hospitality students at the Institute for the Culinary Arts at Metropolitan Community College.

The Hospitality Hall of Fame was created to recognize achievement and significant contributions in the hospitality industry. This year’s inductees are Fred (deceased) and Rose Bruning, of Big Fred’s Pizza; Ross (deceased), Chuck, Ron and Bob Caniglia, of Caniglia’s Original Pizzeria; Constantine F. (Deano) Meares (deceased) of Cascio’s, Deano’s Greek Village, Casablanca and Harkert’s Barbeque; Nicholas C. (deceased), Chris and Nick Petrow of Petrow’s Restaurant; and Diane Zipay, Director of Access 66 Catering and Westside Nutrition Services, for her work in bringing healthy cuisine and culinary excellence together in an educational setting.

This annual event recognizes industry professionals while providing an opportunity for students, faculty and staff at the Institute for the Culinary Arts at MCC to design, prepare and present the meal. Event proceeds are for the education of students at the Institute for the Culinary Arts at MCC.
