Claudia Zapata Selected to Lead Projects at MLCDC
Claudia Zapata has been named the new Projects Development Coordinator for the Midlands Latino Community Development Corporation (MLCDC) (www.midlandslatinocdc.org). Claudia leads the Childcare Development Program and supports the development of las Americas Global Market.
The Childcare Development Program assists Greater Omaha’s low income, immigrant and non-English speaking population in opening and maintaining childcare facilities with an educational atmosphere. This program equips participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to offer developmentally-appropriate care, and to be able to implement an educational curriculum so the children in their care will be academically ready to attend public schools. It guides these individuals toward providing legal childcare services and offers them training in childcare development, child abuse/prevention, and business management, among other aspects. MLCDC has assisted 76 women with the start-up and growth of their educational centers.
Claudia, originally from Colombia, is a public relations and marketing professional. She has over 10 years of experience in that field, plus 5 years of experience specific to childcare development, that she is using to help her clients fulfill their dreams. She is also a licensed Realtor in Florida and was an agent with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices there. She is currently in the process of obtaining her Nebraska Real Estate License. In addition, Claudia previously worked with Provider’s Network Inc. (PNI), along with serving as was a volunteer in MLCDC in the childcare program prior to accepting this position. She enjoys supporting the growth of her clients, stating, “I love God with all my heart, and love to serve others.”
