The Consumer Financial Protection Board (CFPB) recently announced that Omahan and Centris Vice President of Alternative Financial Services, Laura Castro de Cortes has been invited to serve as an inaugural member of the CFPB’s Consumer Advisory Board.

Ms. Castro de Cortes joins the federal board of 25 consumer and financial experts charged with advising the CFPB on industry and consumer insights across a range of issues and emerging market trends. Ms. Castro de Cortes is the only federal credit union representative named to the advisory board.

The newly appointed board members include experts in consumer protection, financial services, community development, fair lending, civil rights, and consumer financial products or services. They also represent depository institutions that primarily serve underserved communities, and they represent communities that have been significantly impacted by higher-priced mortgage loans.
