Omaha Empowerment Breakfast (omahaempowermentbreakfast.org) is proud to announce the speaker for the upcoming Friday, January 6 event. Mary Sand, PhD, president of Sand Consulting, will present “Actions Speak Louder Than Words: What Body Language Says About Us and Others.”

Mary Sand, PhD is a proven leader with more than 35 years of professional experience in healthcare and higher education. She began her healthcare career as a physical therapist and over the years held various leadership positions. Mary had the privilege of leading teams in a variety of settings including hospitals, clinics, long-term care, a healthcare system, and a university. As an experienced executive, Mary is now playing to her strengths by facilitating strategic planning sessions and focus groups, implementing strategy, developing leaders including physicians, and speaking at conferences/events.

“We are constantly communicating even when we aren’t talking and when we are talking our bodies are communicating a message that may support or contradict our words,” Mary shared about her presentation. “Our posture, facial expression, eye contact, gestures, tone of voice, and proxemics (use of space) all impact our message. Do you know what messages you are sending? Are you recognizing the messages people are sending you?”

The Omaha Empowerment Breakfast is a non-membership networking opportunity held monthly on the first Friday with great speakers, great food, and endless connections.
