Migraine headaches affect approximately 18% of the U.S. population between the ages of 18 and 44, with a significant impact on workplace productivity. Presenteeism—when employees work despite being unwell—due to migraines can be 3 to 10 times more costly than absenteeism. Last month, Dr. Soh, a neurologist and headache specialist, led an informative discussion at the Greater Omaha Chamber (omahachamber.org/yp/) on how headache disorders affect the workplace and what steps employers and employees can take to address these challenges. Raising awareness about migraines can reduce stigma and provide guidance for both those affected and their colleagues, ultimately strengthening the community. The Greater Omaha Chamber Young Professionals program develops the next generation of business leaders, encouraging investment in Omaha’s future prosperity.
