Monthly Nights at The Joslyn (joslyn.org) are free evenings for art immersion, and April’s takes place on Thursday, April 3, from 5 to 8 p.m.! Come out for gallery talks, live music, art making, special programs and tasty food and drinks (for purchase). This month, get to know their ancient art collection, with works dating from as far back as the fifth millennium BCE.
A look at the fun this month:
•Begin at their Welcome Table in the Hawks Pavilion! Pick up a program and map for the evening.
•Artist demonstration with Omaha-based artist Pamela Conyers- Hinson using traditional carving tools, inspired by the stone and marble carvings on view in the ancient art galleries.
•Curator Conversations, 6-6:45 p.m.; Curator Conversation about the reinstallation of their ancient art collection with Taylor J. Acosta, PhD, Chief Curator & Willis A. Strauss Curator of European Art, and Rebecca Manning, the former Rae and Bill Dyer Curatorial Assistant and current Foundation and Major Gifts Manager. ASL interpretation provided.
•Visit Studio 1 to create a work of art inspired by work in the collection. All ages are welcome.
•Check out their Art Cart station, with opportunities to touch hands-on materials and talk about art with their friendly Gallery Volunteers.
•Drop-In Sketching! We have all the materials you need for sketching—a great way to slow down.
