United Way of the Midlands (UWM) (unitedwaymidlands.org.) was honored to welcome Angela Williams, president and CEO of United Way Worldwide (UWW) to Omaha for the first time, May 7 – 8. In her role, Williams oversees UWW’s global network that serves 48 million people across 36 countries. Recently named a USA Today Woman of the Year in 2025, she has brought a renewed vision to the 137-year-old organization—focused on sharpening the network’s impact, relevance and sustainability.
Her time in Omaha included a special gathering with UWM corporate partners and leadership donors, where she spoke about the impact of United Way around the world and right here in the Omaha- Council Bluffs metro. Angela was also the keynote speaker at UWM’s Breakfast with Champions, offering inspiring remarks about the power of local community leadership in responding to unique challenges with compassion and purpose. She concluded her visit with a staff luncheon and a thoughtful conversation centered on leadership and local impact. UWM was pleased to also bring together leaders from other United Ways in Nebraska for a short discussion and welcome during Angela’s visit.
Throughout her trip, Angela emphasized the importance of United Ways being deeply attuned to the communities they serve—listening closely, responding quickly and investing in programs that reflect local priorities. She highlighted United Way of the Midlands for its responsiveness, strong relationships and focus on delivering meaningful results. Her visit affirmed UWM as a trusted leader— rooted in the community, driven by collaboration and committed to creating lasting impact across the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro.
