On Thursday, August 28, United Way of the Midlands (UWM) (unitedwaymidlands.org) will officially kick off its 2025–26 campaign at UNO’s Scott Conference Center. The annual campaign plays a critical role in maintaining a strong network of nonprofit programs and services that help people navigate life’s challenges and create opportunities for families across the metro.

Local business leaders and community members are invited to attend. The event will feature a continental breakfast and remarks from 2025–26 Campaign Chair Jeff Russell, president and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska, and Shawna Forsberg, president and CEO of United Way of the Midlands.

Hosted by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska, the morning will also include a Community Impact Panel Discussion moderated by Jay Warren-Teamer, director of diversity and inclusion at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska. Panelists from United Housing Network, Heart Ministry Center, You Turn and JAG Nebraska will share firsthand perspectives on challenges facing families in the metro and how UWM-funded programs make a difference.

“While our programs and partnerships continue to address social and economic disparities, we are excited to launch the next campaign with Jeff and Lisa Russell from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska leading the way,” said Forsberg. “The team they have brought together continues to inspire more people to get involved, engage in community and improve the well-being of families across the metro.”
