On Tuesday, April 30, United Way of the Midlands (UWM) (UnitedWayMidlands.org) cut the ribbon on its new location in the Ashton Building in the Millwork Commons area.

The event featured remarks by Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen and UWM President and CEO Shawna Forsberg – along with the “official” cutting of the ribbon with members of UWM’s Executive Board Committee – Paul Maass, CEO, Scoular; Jim Richardson, Partner, RSM US LLP; Randy Wood, President & CEO, Lindsay Corporation; Chanda Chacon, President & CEO, Children’s Nebraska and Chris Leitner, CEO, Tenaska.

“When we were first presented with the opportunity from WP Engine to move to this new location, as a nonprofit, it was beneficial for many reasons,” said Forsberg. “We were so excited to thank everyone who helped make this move possible, including Google, who sponsored our new training room that can be used by local nonprofits for meetings and events.”

In addition to cutting the ribbon for their new space, UWM also released their new three-year strategic plan. Led by the Executive Board Committee–with valuable input from 30 key informants across the community–the new strategic plan builds upon UWM’s foundation and identifies key strategies.

“This will help us look to a future where we can create even greater impact, bring more individuals together and cultivate a stronger, more resilient community,” said Forsberg.
