On Wednesday, September 4, United Way of the Midlands (UWM) (UnitedWayMidlands.org) officially kicked off its 2024-25 campaign with an event at Creighton University’s Harper Center.

The nearly 200 attendees – which included local business leaders, partner agencies and community members – were treated to a continental breakfast and program that featured remarks from Chanda Chacón, president & CEO, Children’s Nebraska & UWM Board Chair; Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen; Shawna Forsberg, president & CEO, United Way of the Midlands, and a special video from 2024-25 Campaign Chair and President & CEO of Lindsay Corporation Randy Wood.

The event – which was graciously hosted by Lindsay Corporation – also included a Community Impact Panel Discussion, moderated by KETV’s Jack Keenan, with individuals discussing the challenges they have faced or are still facing, and the help they have received from some of UWM’s funded partner agencies.

“Right now, our metro is a vibrant community where many are thriving, but others are facing challenges that truly threaten their stability and well-being,” said Forsberg. “We feel fortunate that we can leverage our unique position to create a broad circle of supports and a safety net of essential services to meet these challenges – ensuring we have a thriving network of health and human services available in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro to address the ever-changing needs of our community.”
