On Tuesday, June 11, United Way of the Midlands (UWM) (unitedwaymidlands.org) celebrated the volunteers who generously share their time and talents to support the organization with an ice cream social event.

The event, which was held at UWM’s new location in the Millwork Commons area, featured a variety of ice creams from Coneflower Creamery, recognition of last year’s Volunteer Organization of the Year, WoodmenLife, and tours of the new office space.

Upcoming volunteer opportunities with UWM’s Volunteers United group were also highlighted, along with a variety of available volunteer activities on UWM’s online volunteer platform, Get Connected.

In 2023 alone, UWM volunteers donated more than 39,043 hours to the community – with a total value of more than $1.1 million dollars – and volunteers represented more 100 corporations and organizations across the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro.

”We love getting the opportunity to celebrate the work of our volunteers and their collective impact across our community. They play such a vital role in supporting our mission when they roll up their sleeves to support our nonprofit partners in the metro,” says Shawna Forsberg, president and CEO, UWM. “We are truly thankful to every one of our volunteers for sharing your time and talents to make a difference for so many in our community.”
