The Hope Center for Kids Hosts Annual Thanksgiving Dinner, Prepares for Christmas

On November 18, The Hope Center for Kids (www.hopecenterforkids.org) hosted its Thanksgiving Dinner for the families of North Omaha. This annual event welcomes members of the entire community to gather in thanks and to celebrate another year of blessings. Starting early in the week, volunteers prepped the meal, decorated, and welcomed guests that evening. They are beyond grateful for the groups of volunteers from the following: Bridge Church, The Water’s Edge Church, BNI Heartland Multiply Your Profits Chapter, Creighton University, The Hope Center Guild, Aureus Medical, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and Integrated Life Choices.

The menu prepared by The Hope kitchen staff included turkey, ham, mac and cheese, greens, mashed potatoes, and pie. The Hope Center is now preparing for its Christmas Shopping event where youth are given the opportunity to shop for a gift for themselves and their family members. The holiday season is one of the busiest times of the year for The Hope team as they work hard to ensure youth and families feel loved and appreciated during the holidays.

The Hope Center for Kids is a faith-based after-school and summer program for K-12 students in North Omaha, where an average of 250 members are offered academic support in a fun and safe learning environment. Since 1998, children and youth have received a nutritious meal every weeknight, as well as life-transforming opportunities such as tutoring, college visits and field trips, employment training, sports programs, family events, and more.
