The First Tee Omaha Announces 2020 Summer Programming

Hogan’s Junior Golf Heroes’ dba The First Tee of Omaha (www.firstteeomaha.org), a youth development nonprofit focused on generating the opportunity for today’s youth ages 5–18 to learn life skills through golf, is offering summer programming at six locations across Douglas and Sarpy counties. Programming begins in late May and concludes in July. Each programming site offers a unique schedule to include: length of session and number of times a session meets. An optional day for testing to move up to the next level is scheduled within each session at all locations. The six locations include: Steve Hogan/Miller Park, Spring Lake, Platteview GC, Eagle Hills Golf Course, Pacific Springs Golf Course, and Elkhorn Ridge Golf Course.

The First Tee Curriculum is nationally acclaimed and based on a progressive model that takes participants through five certification levels: PLAYer, PAR, BIRDIE, EAGLE, and ACE. The length of time needed to advance from one level to the next will vary from student to student. It is not a race but a journey, ensuring that each student receives the necessary tools to have a fun and rewarding life on and off the golf course. Participants are required to attend courses and successfully complete all of the golf and life skill requirements within each level. Before graduating to the next level of the program, they must also meet minimum age requirements.

Everyone involved in The First Tee network is integral to building character and introducing life skills to kids and teens across the country. This includes the dedicated volunteers, coaches, and physical educators who deliver the programs; chapter staff, board members, and school administrators who help lead the way; and, of course, the numerous individuals and corporations who provide resources to strengthen the work of the organization.
