Mark your calendar for one of the Durham Museum’s (durhammuseum.org) favorite holidays, Root Beer Float Day, on Saturday, August 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.! Stop by The Durham Museum to enjoy a free right oz. Root Beer Float (while supplies last) at their old-fashioned Soda Fountain and celebrate with one of their signature sweet treats. Plus, Dr. Oxygen will be here, from 1 to 2 p.m., for some sweet science experiments! Guests will also have a chance to participate in themed activities, including crafts and a root beer ring toss.

The Durham Museum’s authentic soda fountain dates back to the earliest days of Union Station, which opened in 1931. Soda jerks still make floats the old-fashioned way, by hand-scooping ice-cream and adding root beer flavoring and seltzer water.

Regular museum admission applies. Free for members! Admission includes access to their featured exhibitions, “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom” and “Becoming Jane: The Evolution of Jane Goodall.”

Root Beer Float Day is generously supported by Douglas County, Nebraska; Hiland Dairy Foods; Upstream Brewing Company; and Oriental Trading Company.
