The Branched Oak Observatory (theboo.org) is pleased to announce that they are breaking ground on their newest optical observatory, The Miller Astrophotography Research Center or “The MARC.” This observatory will feature two world class Takahashi telescopes a 250mm and 300mm. These telescopes join the collection, along with all the associated equipment including eye pieces, cameras and the two fully automated Ash Brand Domes. This donation was made possible by astronomer Tom Miller. Tom’s equipment caught the eye of the University of Texas and of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln while doing astronomical research using his two Takahashi telescopes.

Once completed, the MARC will make the Branched Oak Observatory the premier destination when it comes to astrophotography. This will make the Branched Oak Observatory number one in Nebraska, a top five destination in the Midwest and a top 10 destination in the nation.

Funding for this amazing project is through grant from the Visitors Promotions Committee (VPC) and the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners.
