PenFed Foundation Raises Over $35K at Greater Omaha Military Heroes Golf Classic
The PenFed Foundation (www.penfedfoundation.org) raised over $35,000 to support Nebraska service members, veterans, military families and caregivers at its third-annual Greater Omaha Military Heroes Golf Classic at Quarry Oaks on June 25. The 2019 Golf Classic drew over 75 golfers and kicked off with a performance of the National Anthem by local Omaha charity, Guitars for Vets.
Last year’s 2018 Greater Omaha Military Heroes Golf Classic raised money to provide the students at Peter Sarpy Elementary School on Offutt Air Force Base with a playground. Nearly 90% of students at Peter Sarpy Elementary School have military-affiliated parents.
“We are proud to support the Nebraska military community and are committed to taking care of the veterans and military members who courageously serve our country,” said retired General John W. Nicholson Jr., president of the PenFed Foundation.
The PenFed Foundation is a national nonprofit organization that provides military service members, veterans, their families and support networks with the skills and resources they need to improve their financial well-being. The PenFed Foundation is affiliated with PenFed Credit Union, the nation’s second-largest federal credit union with $25 billion in assets and 1.7 million members.
Affiliated with PenFed Credit Union, the Foundation has the resources to effectively reach military communities across the nation, build strong partnerships, and engage a dedicated corps of volunteers in its mission. The credit union funds the Foundation’s personnel and most operational costs, demonstrating its strong commitment to the programs the Foundation provides.
