Patriotic Quilts a Gift to ENVH Residents in Honor of Veteran’s Day
The Cass County “Holy Stitchers” sewing group recently presented patriotic lap quilts to each member residing at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans’ Home. The quilts were presented on November 10th in recognition of Veterans Day.
Chris Ahrens, Anna Mallett, Diane Mayfield and Helen Worthan of the Holy Stitchers got together and completed 120 of the lap quilts in 8 months. This same group also made privacy curtains, shower curtains and valances for every member’s room two years ago. They are very dedicated to their craft and love to show their support for veterans. ENVH Administrator, Troy Schulz, and ENVH Volunteer Services Coordinator, Patti Howe, introduced members from the Cass County Holy Stitchers to the veterans at the home when the handmade quilts were presented to each member.
