Outlook Nebraska Wins Safety Award From National Safety Council, Nebraska
The National Safety Council, Nebraska will recognize Outlook Nebraska (www.outlookne.org) as a 2018 nonprofit recipient of Nebraska’s Safest Companies Award. Outlook Nebraska maintains a workforce in which more than 60% of its associates are blind or visually impaired and has not had a lost-time incident in more than five years. Last year, the nonprofit also received the Service to Community Safety Award from the National Safety Council, Nebraska.
The National Safety Council, Nebraska Safest Companies Award celebrates and recognizes commendable safety programs throughout the state. Winners are chosen based on their recordable injury cases, types of injuries, lost work days, DART (days away restricted or transferred) ratings and must have a written injury/illness program. Outlook Nebraska has achieved 1,621 consecutive days without a lost-time incident.
“We put the safety and well-being of our people first,” said Eric Stueckrath, chief executive officer of Outlook Nebraska. “It’s an honor to be selected by the National Safety Council, Nebraska for this award. We will continue to drive a culture where there is a strong commitment and passion for safety.”
Outlook Nebraska, which has the mission to positively impact everyone who is blind and visually impaired, collaborates with the City of Omaha and other partners to ensure the safety of the visually impaired throughout the community. Audible traffic signals are in place throughout Omaha that assist people affected by vision loss in crossing busy intersections.
“In our environment with visually impaired associates, this award is truly a team achievement because our associates not only account for their own safety but also look out for one another as teammates,” said Ross Menard, safety manager of the nonprofit.
