Technology can open doors, create independence and make everyday activities more accessible. For individuals with disabilities, having the right device or adaptive equipment can make an incredible difference, but finding and affording those tools can be a barrier.
UCP of Nebraska’s (ucpnebraska.org) Tech Tools program helps remove that barrier through developmental technology libraries located throughout Nebraska. The program provides individuals and families with access to adapted devices and equipment they can check out and try at no cost.
From communication devices and adaptive technology to equipment that can support play, learning and everyday activities, the libraries give families an opportunity to find what works for them without having to purchase expensive equipment first.
The program also helps connect individuals with technology that can support greater participation at home, at school and in their communities. Sometimes, the right tool can mean the difference between being left out and being able to take part.
For Nebraska businesses and community partners, supporting Tech Tools is a meaningful way to invest in accessibility and independence. Every contribution helps UCP of Nebraska continue expanding access to resources that can make everyday life a little easier—and a lot more possible—for individuals with disabilities and their families.
