Open Door Mission (www.opendoormission.org) hosted a back-to-school Celebration Carnival for the community on Saturday, August 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Open Door Mission campus. The event was held for families experiencing homelessness and poverty.

The carnival included games, a delicious meal, a petting zoo, firetruck, face painting and balloon animals. Free school supplies and brand new clothing for children were also given out at the event. Over 200 volunteers showed up to help make this event a success. Over 1700 people were served, including over 1,000 children.
