Open Door Mission and SummitMedia Partner for Hunger Heroes Virtual Food Drive

Open Door Mission (www.opendoormission.org) is partnering with SummitMedia for its Hunger Heroes Virtual Food Drive, which takes place May 31 through September 6. With a 50% increase in food insecurity in the community, Open Door Mission knows more people than ever before will need help. In Nebraska and Western Iowa, one in four kids under 18 is at risk for hunger. Anyone can be a Hunger Hero during this Summer of Hope by buying food items on the Wish List (www.opendoormission.org/urgent-needs/hunger-hero-virtual-food-drive) and registries online (Amazon, Target, and Walmart) of some of the most needed items this summer: canned meat, canned fruit, pasta/noodles, Mac & cheese, cereal, and boxed meals.

“This last year has been challenging for so many people, but we have also seen our community come together to take care of each other in a generous way,” says President/CEO Candace Gregory of Open Door Mission. “We are excited about our Hunger Heroes Virtual Food Drive because it literally just takes a few minutes for people to buy food Online, but it will make a big impact for our neediest neighbors.”

Open Door Mission would like to extend a special thanks to Corwin Toyota of Bellevue for doubling the impact of the food donations by matching the value of the food purchased up to $25,000!

Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue Mission that meets the needs of individuals and families while inspiring HOPE for lasting change.
