OneWorld Seeking Donations, Volunteers for Baby Boutique
At OneWorld (www.oneworldomaha.org/donate), it is their belief that everyone deserves access to the best health care possible, regardless of economic or insurance status. As such, one of the organization’s key missions is to increase prenatal patients’ access to care. Prenatal care decreases likelihood of preterm births, birth defects and other harm to new mothers and babies.
OneWorld’s Baby Boutique helps underserved families prepare for newborns. Every time families attend prenatal appointments, classes and newborn checkups, they earn “baby bucks” to spend. With baby essentials as incentives, the Boutique encourages women to seek early and consistent prenatal care.
Since its opening in 2013, OneWorld patients have visited the Baby Boutique more than 2,850 times to receive useful items like clothing, diapers, blankets and bibs. Volunteers open the Boutique on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
In recent months, the Boutique has run out of several items on its inventory list. You can help OneWorld restock the shelves by making a donation to the Baby Boutique at www.oneworldomaha.org/donate. Volunteers are also needed to work in the Boutique—call Megan at (402) 991-5642 for more information.
