Omaha Home For Boys Hosts Project Christmas Joy
Through December 11, Omaha Home For Boys (OmahaHomeForBoys.org/joy) is hosting Project Christmas Joy, a holiday gift and essentials drive for the young men and women being served by the Home. The goal of Project Christmas Joy is to ensure that every youth in the Home’s programs experiences the joy of Christmas by receiving a gift during the holidays. The Home is asking for the public’s help to make these young men and women feel special, loved, and celebrated during the holidays.
Some of the most critically needed items include hygiene items, cleaning products, laundry supplies, kitchen essentials, diapers and wipes. Some of the “wants” of the Home’s youth include gift cards (Walmart, T.J. Maxx, Kohl’s, McDonald’s, QuikTrip, Burger King), body spray, lotion, nail polish, backpacks, wallets, purses, and blankets.
Bailey Perry, Omaha Home for Boys transitional living manager, notes just how impactful the public’s support is: “We try to give every youth in our program a few gifts at Christmas, and the reality is that for some, it’s the first time they’ve had the opportunity to experience this aspect of the holidays. They are truly grateful for everything they receive.”
Support of Omaha Home for Boys’ Project Christmas Joy can be offered in a number of ways. Donated items can be dropped off at Omaha Home for Boys, Smith Administration Building, 4343 N. 52nd St. Monetary gifts can be given online at OmahaHomeForBoys.org/joy. Items can even be purchased via the “Project Christmas Joy” Amazon Wish List and shipped directly to Omaha Home for Boys. Call (402) 457-7000 with any questions.
