Omaha Home for Boys Gears Up for Holiday Gift Drive, Project Christmas Joy
Omaha Home for Boys (omahahomeforboys.org) will kick off its holiday gift and essentials drive, Project Christmas Joy, on December 3. The drive will run for two weeks and is aimed at providing youth, young adults, and families in the Home’s programs with presents and necessities for the holidays.
Some of the most critically-needed items include hygiene items, cleaning products, laundry supplies, kitchen essentials, diapers, and wipes. Some of the “wants” of the Home’s youth include gift cards (Walmart, TJ MAXX, Kohls, McDonalds, Quik Trip, Burger King, Uber, Auto Zone), body spray, lotion, nail polish, backpacks, wallets, purses, socks, and blankets.
Bailey Perry, Omaha Home for Boys transitional living manager, notes just how impactful the public’s support is: “We try to give every youth in our program a few gifts at Christmas and the reality is that for some, it’s the first time they’ve had the opportunity to experience this aspect of the holidays. They are truly grateful for everything they receive.”
Supporting the Omaha Home for Boys’ Project Christmas Joy can be done in a number of ways. Donated items can be dropped off at the Home’s Smith Administration Building, 4343 N. 52nd St. Monetary gifts can be given online at OmahaHomeForBoys.org/joy. Items can even be purchased via the “Project Christmas Joy” Amazon Wish List and shipped directly to Omaha Home for Boys. If you have any questions, call (402) 457-7014.
