Omaha Home for Boys Creates Workforce-Ready Youth

Finding and maintaining employment is one of the most common and most significant hurdles that the young adults at Omaha Home for Boys (omahahomeforboys.org) face. In fact, one third of the young men and women that seek the guidance of Omaha Home for Boys have never been employed. That’s why the Home has made workforce readiness a top priority when it comes to preparing youth for a stable future.

Omaha Home for Boys helps more than 300 young men and women through their numerous courses which assist clients in finding sustainable employment. The Home offers classes on resume writing, professionalism, long-term career planning, interviewing, time management, and budgeting.

“Our goal is to not only to help youth find a job that pays enough and has enough hours to meet their financial needs, but also one that is accessible from public transportation as many of our young people do not own their own car,” said Keenan Page, independent living employment manager at Omaha Home for Boys.

The Home’s workforce readiness training is a proven formula for success. Over 90% of the young adults in the Home’s residential care and transitional living programs are stably employed.
