Omaha-Council Bluffs JDRF One Walk Set for August 24
Walk with over 5,000 people to help find a cure for T1D at this year’s JDRF (jdrf.org) One Walk on Saturday, August 24 at TD Ameritrade Park. Check-in and festivities will kick off at 8 a.m. with the walk beginning at 9 a.m. Immediately following the JDRF One Walk, go the Extra Mile at the Walk After Party in The Capitol District! Both events are family friendly and include games, food, entertainment, and much more.
This event has a single goal: Creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D). T1D is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly. It has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. If you have T1D, your pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. This means you must constantly monitor your blood-sugar level, inject or infuse insulin from a pump and carefully monitor your eating and activity every single day.
Join JDRF this year as they walk and raise money for life-changing research for the millions affected by this devastating disease. Register for the One Walk event at walk.jdrf.org/Omaha. Questions about this event can be directed to Chris Dunn, development manager, at (402) 397-2873 / cdunn@jdrf.org.
