Branched Oak Observatory (theboo.org) is an astronomy park located southeast of the Branched Oak Recreation Area, 20 miles outside of Lincoln. Not only is this a short, convenient trip outside the city, but it is also far enough away to enjoy the natural, dark beauty of the sky. The Observatory’s Mission is to progressively grow into a top-notch astronomy education facility.
Once or twice a month, the Branched Oak Observatory is open to the general public and students of Astronomy. Thanks to the help and assistance of local astronomers, Branched Oak Observatory sets up a variety of telescopes to explore and enjoy the magic of the night sky. Public events are always free of charge!
Astronomy enthusiasts are always invited to join in on the fun for any advertised public star party. One can set up his/her/their own equipment and share expertise!
Branched Oak Observatory is excited to announce new summertime hours on Friday and Saturday nights from 7 to 11 p.m. and “SUN”day nights from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., effective Friday, May 31 through Sunday, August 18.
