Jesuit Academy and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands are pleased to announce the opening of a new collaborative camp property located at Camp Nakomis in Carter Lake, Iowa (4101 North 17th Street, 51510).  Located at the Carter Lake Boys & Girls Club and approximately 10 minutes from both Jesuit Academy and BGCM’s North Club, the property will serve all Jesuit Academy students each summer during the school’s required July academic term.  Throughout the year, both programs will utilize the property which features a 6,000 square foot building with five classrooms and activity space, a 30-foot by 50-foot multi-depth outdoor pool complete with water slide, and a new sports field.  A grand opening celebration was held on September 24.

Private community donors and local foundations, including The Lozier Foundation, the Heider Family, The Robert B. Daugherty Foundation, The Hawks Foundation, Paul and Annette Smith, and the Wisconsin Province of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), provided funding for the project.

The partnership between the two organizations enters its third year and has also resulted in the expansion of outreach into the North Omaha community, as well as a stronger continuum of services available to the youth of the neighborhood. For more information about Jesuit Academy, visit www.jesuitacademy.org or call (402) 346-4464.  For more information about Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands, visit www.bgcmidland.org.
