In collaboration with Nebraska Children and Families Foundation, Educare Omaha (www.educareomaha.org) at Indian Hill recently held a book signing to celebrate the release of “Eating at Educare.” This new picture book features Educare Chef Miss Belinda and her nourishing dishes enjoyed by students. Readers learn how food is prepared, served and finally eaten by Educare students.

“This book is special because it’s not just a story, it features pictures of our students, staff and classrooms,” Educare Omaha at Indian Hill School Director Janelle Nissen said. “The children are excited to see themselves and their friends on the pages, which builds excitement around reading.”

The book was developed as part of the Nebraska Growing Readers initiative, a partnership between the Nebraska Department of Education, Nebraska Children and Families Foundation, the Statewide Family Engagement Center and Unite for Literacy. The Nebraska Growing Readers initiative aims to deliver age-appropriate books to early care and education sites across the state, eliminating book deserts.

A digital version of the book can be read at bit.ly/EatingatEducare.
