Hundreds of Music Educators Converge on Lincoln for the 2015 Nebraska Music Educators Conference
Lincoln again hosted the annual fall conference/clinic of the Nebraska Music Educators Association (NMEA), held November 19-21. Music educators from across the state attended this conference, headquartered at the Embassy Suites downtown and hosted on the campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the Holiday Inn Downtown and the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel. In addition to the educators, approximately 70 regional vendors, 400 guest performers, 310 elementary musicians and 800 All-State high school musicians were in attendance.
Each year, over 3000 of the best high school musicians in the state audition for the Nebraska All-State Band, Chorus, Jazz Band and Orchestra which are sponsored by the Nebraska Music Educators Association. Selection as a member of one of these groups is one of the highest musical honors attainable in Nebraska. Open to the public, All-State ensemble concerts were held at the Lied Center for the Performing Arts and concluded the NMEA Conference/Clinic. Ensembles were led by prestigious guest conductors from across the nation.
