Nebraska Community Foundation recently received the 2014 Outstanding Foundation award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals Nebraska Chapter. This award is presented to the foundation that has demonstrated outstanding civic and charitable responsibility and has encouraged and motivated others to take leadership in philanthropy and community involvement. Jeff Yost, NCF president and CEO, accepted the award on November 11 in Lincoln on behalf of nearly 1,800 volunteer affiliated fund leaders across the state.
Since its founding 20 years ago, Nebraska Community Foundation has stimulated $222 million for reinvestment into Nebraska communities by working with hometown leaders, using philanthropy as a tool for progress. They connect people and inspire them to think big, acting as a catalyst for revitalization.
Currently, Nebraska Community Foundation partners with community, organizational and donor-advised affiliated funds to serve more than 250 communities in 77 Nebraska counties. They provide training, peer learning and financial management for affiliated fund leaders across the state. However, all grantmaking decisions are made at the local level by NCF’s volunteers.
