Midlands Community Foundation’s 2016 Reflection Ball Raises Nearly $100,000

Midlands Community Foundation’s (www.MidlandsCommunity.org2016 Reflection Ball, held on January 16 at the Embassy Suites in LaVista, raised nearly $100,000.  Approximately 400 guests attended the gala. Net proceeds from the event will be donated to the MCF Education Fund, a designated fund established at Midlands Community Foundation. Donations to the fund will be distributed to various schools, school foundations and other non-profit organizations serving the needs of Sarpy and Cass counties in the area of education, including but not limited to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math); literacy; arts; leadership; peer and counseling support; backpack and clothing programs.

At the event, the Reflection Award was presented to Dr. Harlan and Cherie Metschke and Dr. Rick and Kyle Black for their commitment to supporting schools and students in both Sarpy and Cass Counties.  All four of these dedicated and hard-working individuals have decades of experience teaching and working in education, always putting students first.

Honorary chairs for the event were superintendents of school districts in Sarpy and Cass counties, including Frank Harwood (Bellevue Public Schools), Dr. Richard Hasty (Plattsmouth Community Schools), Brett Richards (Springfield-Platteview Community Schools), Dr. Andy Rikli (Papillion LaVista Community Schools) and Dr. Kevin Riley (Gretna Public Schools).
