Midlands Community Foundation has awarded grants totaling $82,850 to 16 non-profit organizations serving Sarpy and Cass counties including: Assistance League of Omaha, Inc. – $10,000; Bess Streeter Aldrich Foundation – $2,500; College Possible – $1,250; The Durham Museum – $2,500; Friends of Sump Memorial Library – $1,000; Heartland Family Service – $1,600; Lofte Association, Inc. – $5,000 (pledge); Lutheran Family Services – $10,000; Merrymakers Association – $1,500; One World Community Health Centers, Inc. – $10,000; Papillion-LaVista TeamMates – $2,000; Papillion Library Foundation – $2,000; Plattsmouth Public Library Foundation – $5,000; Strategic Air & Space Museum – $10,000; True Buddy Farms – $13,500.

This is the first of two grant distributions for Midlands Community Foundation’s fiscal year. The next grant deadline will be February 1, 2013, with funds distributed in April.

Through its grants program, Midlands Community Foundation places an emphasis on prevention and education. The Foundation has a strong commitment toward programs benefiting health, art, culture, community, economic development, education, and human services.  Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded gifts totaling millions of dollars.

The mission of the Midlands Community Foundation is to benefit the diverse needs of the Sarpy and Cass county communities by providing financial support, involvement and service.
