Metro Area Youth Foundation Presents Summer Bash for Childhood Cancer
On August 24, the Metro Area Youth Foundation Inc. (MAYF; www.SummerBashforCCC.org) will hold their 13th annual Summer Bash for Childhood Cancer. Please join them for an evening of live and silent auctions, music, and delicious food to support families with children affected by cancer. The event will take place at Embassy Suites LaVista from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Summer Bash is sponsored by the Omaha Metro Area and Southwest Iowa Optimist Clubs. Tickets are $25–$125.
This year’s Summer Bash Ambassador is Brady, a 7th grader at Wilson Middle School. He was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor when he was nine months old and has been in and out of chemotherapy ever since. The rare type of tumor that Brady suffers from has resulted in total vision loss in his left eye and significant loss in his right. The 2019 Honorary Chairs are Dawn and Sid Dinsdale. They have personally been very active in the Omaha area for many years serving on boards and supporting nonprofit efforts.
All the money raised at the event will benefit kids with cancer and their families, the Pediatric Oncology Units at the Nebraska Medical Center and Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, and Camp Quality Heartland and Camp CoHoLo, two area camps for kids affected by cancer. In the first 11 years, the Summer Bash for Childhood Cancer raised over a half a million dollars for individuals and families fighting cancer in the Omaha area. In 2019, MAYF hopes to achieve even greater success with the help of organizations in the community.
Metro Area Youth Foundation is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to allow families to focus on the children, not the money they owe. For more information, visit www.SummerBashforCCC.org or contact (402) 734-0270.
