Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital (jehfoundation.org) was founded in 1886 by the Women’s Christian Association, community women giving of their time and talents, or what is known today as volunteerism. These pioneering women opened the first Jennie hospital as a five-room cottage in Council Bluffs, IA.

Today, the role of the volunteer has expanded to both men and women and has become a vital part of the entire Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital campus. Jennie volunteers have opportunities to learn new skills, make friends, and gain the individual satisfaction that comes from providing support.

Volunteers serve in the hospital by providing support that compliments the hospital services. Volunteers add to the quality of the services they provide for patients, their families and the community. Areas they currently host volunteers are: the gift shop, outpatient surgery services, information desk greeters, pharmacy annex, department office help, special events.

Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital volunteers give selflessly of their time and service. Creating a culture where compassion and excellence come together, for the meaning of care. Call (712) 396-6040, email Rachel.Reis@nmhs.org, or visit jehfoundation.org and click the Get Involved link.
