MAYF to Host Summer Bash for Childhood Cancer on August 24

On August 24, the Metro Area Youth Foundation Inc. (MAYF; www.SummerBashforCCC.org) will hold their 13th annual Summer Bash for Childhood Cancer, Midsummer Night’s Dream—a beautiful night of giving. The event will take place at Embassy Suites La Vista from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Attendees will enjoy dinner, entertainment, and a live and silent auction in support of families with children affected by cancer. Summer Bash is sponsored by the Omaha Metro Area and Southwest Iowa Optimist Clubs. Ticket prices range from $25–$125 and can be purchased online.

This year’s 2019 Honorary Chairs are Dawn and Sid Dinsdale. They have personally been very active in the Omaha area for many years serving on boards and supporting nonprofit efforts. The 2019 Summer Bash Ambassador is Brady, a 7th grader at Wilson Middle School. He was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor when he was nine months old and has been in and out of chemotherapy ever since. The rare type of tumor that Brady suffers from has resulted in total vision loss in his left eye and significant loss in his right. All the proceeds from the event will help kids like Brady and their families with day-to-day expenses and camp scholarships.

In the first 11 years, the Summer Bash for Childhood Cancer raised over a half a million dollars for individuals and families fighting cancer in the Omaha area. In 2019, MAYF hopes to achieve even greater success with the help of organizations in the community.

Metro Area Youth Foundation is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to allow families to focus on the children, not the money they owe. For more information, visit www.SummerBashforCCC.org or contact (402) 510-4083 / summerbash@cox.net.
