Malone Center Distributes Holiday Maternal Wellness Packages to Families
Thanks to the donations of local companies and generous individuals, the Malone Community Center (malonecenter.org) was able to distribute essential maternal supplies to many local mothers and families over the holidays. The care packages were made for families in the Malone Maternal Wellness Program, who the Center helps with childbirth, infant care, postpartum care, breastfeeding, and more. Each family received a care package filled with diapers, a diaper bag, wipes, blankets, hand sanitizer, body wash and lotion, wash cloths, a reusable water bottle, green cleaning supplies, nursing pads, teething toys, books, a bathrobe, laundry detergent, a $250 gift card to Target, and a $250 gift card to Super Saver. Thanks to Spreetail, Victress, Paper Kite, the State of Nebraska Community CARES Grant, and the many individual donors who purchased supplies during their donation drive, many families in Lincoln and surrounding areas were able to receive the care for their infants they may not have received otherwise.
Since 1955, the Malone Community Center has created and facilitated programs to combat the racial disparities and inequities that exist in our justice, healthcare, and social systems. The Malone Maternal Wellness Program combats injustice by providing a depth of resources so families can make empowered and informed decisions throughout their birthing journey.
