The American Red Cross (redcross.org) asks Nebraskans to consider giving the gift of time in 2026 by resolving to help people in need as a volunteer.

“Our volunteers make up 90% of our workforce and are the beating heart and soul of the Red Cross,” said Jill Orton, Red Cross of Nebraska Region CEO. “Their support is immeasurable. Their precious gift of time builds our capacity to help people in what can be their darkest hour.”

The Red Cross offers a variety of volunteer opportunities to match one’s interests, skills and availability — from supporting a family after a home fire, assisting a member of the military during an emergency, or helping ensure blood is available for patients who need it.

About the American Red Cross:

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides comfort to victims of disasters; supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; distributes international humanitarian aid; and supports veterans, military members and their families. The Red Cross is a nonprofit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to deliver its mission.
