In a surprising development that experts insist is “completely normal,” children throughout southwest Iowa continue growing, learning, and relying on caring adults to help them succeed. To meet this ongoing community need, Firefly is calling on local residents to become volunteers, donors and advocates for children and families.
For 35 years, Firefly has worked alongside families to provide literacy support, developmental screenings, public health services and early childhood programs that help children enter school ready to learn. Today, the organization is inviting the community to play a direct role in that mission.
Whether you’re willing to stuff envelopes, assemble children’s literacy kits, read with young learners, sponsor a program or make a financial gift, every contribution helps create brighter futures for local children.
“Strong communities don’t happen by accident,” said Kimberly Kolakowski, Executive Director of Firefly. “They happen when neighbors step forward to support one another. Every volunteer hour and every donation helps ensure children and families have the resources they need to thrive.”
