Kids Can Community Center (www.KidsCan.org) is excited to announce that it is expanding and enhancing its site-based mentoring program at its new facility. Kids Can matches children ages 7 to 13 with volunteer adult mentors who promote positive relationships, encourage self-esteem and confidence, and engage in goal setting activities. All potential candidates are interviewed and must pass a background check. Mentors also receive training and ongoing staff support.
Mentor match meetings are typically conducted once a week for one hour at Kids Can where they decide on activities together. Through this approach, the greatest in-depth impact can occur as mentees learn to establish and maintain a relationship with an adult who cares and supports them.
As we are about to move into our new community center, we are looking for adults interested in becoming mentors. You can make an incredible and long-lasting impact on a student by becoming that experienced and encouraging person to support them in their endeavors!
This project is being supported, in whole or in part, by federal award number SLFRP0230 awarded to the City of Omaha by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
