Walk with more than 3,000 people to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D) at this year’s Breakthrough T1D Walk (walk.BreakthroughT1D.org) on Sunday, October 5, at Mahoney State Park. Festivities begin at 11:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 1 p.m.
The Breakthrough T1D Walk raises awareness for T1D and funds research to cure, treat and prevent T1D and its complications.
T1D is an autoimmune condition diagnosed in both children and adults and is unrelated to diet or lifestyle. In people with T1D, the pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. Managing T1D requires constant blood-sugar monitoring, insulin injections or infusions via a pump, and careful attention to diet and activity every day.
By participating in the Breakthrough T1D Walk, you’ll support a growing movement to change life with T1D and help advance life-changing breakthroughs on the path to a cure.
