HETRA Annual Fundraising Drive Bolstered by Success Stories, Meaningful Results
Along with their annual December funding letter in 2020, Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy (HETRA, hetra.org) kicked off a month-long series of impactful success stories and testimonials to demonstrate the true impact of your support on the organization. They have 25 horses in their herd to work with veterans and children and adults living with disabilities to achieve physical, mental, and occupational therapy goals. Each horse in the HETRA herd has a unique personality and skillset to help program participants achieve their specific goals. As part of the December series, one long-term volunteer explained the value of the program and the herd like this:
“I never truly understood until I began volunteering at HETRA that each horse has its own personality, temperament, fears, likes, and dislikes, just like people. It has been an amazing journey over the past five years getting to know the horses better and learning to treat them as individuals, with respect and dignity. Being present during each interaction offers ongoing understanding and wisdom on working in unison with each horse to accomplish what needs to happen to facilitate a positive therapeutic experience for all riders. I am so grateful to be part of such an amazing organization…. Thanks, HETRA, for enriching so many lives.”
