HETRA Announces Current 2020 Schedule of Openings for All Participants
Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy (HETRA; www.hetra.org) hosts special informational tours twice monthly for anyone interested in becoming a HETRA participant. The tours are designed to give prospective participants a feel for the barn environment, the horses as equine partners, the type of interactive therapy they may receive, and what they can expect from a therapy session.
Sessions last 30 minutes and are adapted to the needs of each participant. HETRA works with participants from ages 2 to 92 with a variety of diagnoses. Those with cerebral Palsy, history of stroke, autism, ADHD, PTSD, Down Syndrome, brain injuries, developmental delay, and hearing and visual impairments are just a small representation of who HETRA serves. HETRA also provides adaptive riding, adaptive carriage driving, therapy services, life skills, equine services for veterans, and equine facilitated learning services in the community. At HETRA, there is something for everyone, including public riding.
HETRA’s mission is to improve the quality of life both physically and emotionally of adults and children of all ability levels through equine-assisted activities. Those who have considered equine-assisted activities but still have questions about the process are encouraged to register for an informational tour of HETRA, located at 10130 S 222nd St. in Gretna, and attend a tour. Registration can be made over the phone at (402) 359-8830 or online at www.hetra.org.
