Heartland Hope Mission (HeartlandHopeMission.org) is partnering with Hy-Vee for their largest annual food drive event, Stuff-A-Truck. Shoppers at all Omaha area (including Gretna and Papillion) Hy-Vee grocery stores can donate $5 or $10 with a volunteer at the entrance, or buy a grocery bag with a cashier at check-out. All proceeds will go towards purchasing food to help families in need prepare their own Thanksgiving meals at home. This food drive is essential to meet the increase of clients in need of necessities and holiday assistance. The event will run October 23-29. Volunteers will be serving at all Omaha/Gretna/Papillion Hy-Vee stores starting Thursday evening through Sunday to encourage shoppers to donate. Over 250 volunteers are needed to serve at this event, and kids of all ages can volunteer alongside their parents. Scan the QR code to sign up to volunteer at your local Hy-Vee store!
“With national food costs at a 6.7% increase, it will be difficult for many local families to celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving. This food drive is critical so we can provide Thanksgiving pantries to the thousands of people requesting holiday assistance from Heartland Hope Mission,” stated Pastor Chelsea Salifou, CEO at Heartland Hope Mission.
