Heartland Hope Mission to Host Food Drive in October, Volunteers Needed
Heartland Hope Mission (HeartlandHopeMission.org) will be hosting its largest annual food drive, Stuff a Truck, at all Omaha area Hy-Vee stores during the third week of October. Volunteers are needed to serve 2.5 hour shifts between Thursday, October 18 and Sunday, October 24 to help fight hunger in our community. The goal of this event is to feed families for the holiday season. Volunteers will greet shoppers as they enter HyVee and encourage them to purchase $5 or $10 food bags for families in need. This is a family-friendly volunteer event. Parents with children of all ages are invited to serve together to build awareness about food insecurity in our own communities. All food items and funds raised during this at Stuff a Truck will go towards providing Thanksgiving and Christmas food items that families in need can cook at home. You can sign up to volunteer by emailing Amanda@HeartlandHopeMission.org.
Heartland Hope Mission operates one of the largest food pantries in the state but is “More Than a Pantry” as they help families work toward self-sufficiency. The Mission primarily serves working poor families and those who may be facing a crisis situation by providing them with a week’s supply of food, as well as clothing, diapers, job resources, and community referrals.
